Making Moves.

(I know I haven't updated Berry Artsy lately. The past several months have just been on TEN! In a nutshell, moved out to New York in August. I've been out here for 3 months doing school full-time at Parsons The New School for Design and working like a maniac. Hustlin' HARD. NY is real. Super rough but super worth it. I'm having a blast. Ready for this semester to be over to start the next one with a BOOM-BOOM-BAM!)

Now that I've caught you up on the happenings of my life, I would like to catch you up on the happenings of my design work. For a good minute I've had the concept of a clothing brand that I wanted to release called "properGrammar." I envision it embodying what it really means to be proper in this day and age. The highest standard of proper. Fast forward to now, I've entered an online contest to jump start this vision. It's on PLNDR.com.

I submitted a design for a t-shirt contest called SHOW OFF on
https://www.plndr.com. All I have to do is get the most votes and then PLNDR will print and sell my design online!!! Isn't that amazing? Please go and vote. I'd love you forever! Most importantly, you'd be able to get a properGrammar shirt. Please support. Tweet, share on Facebook, email, whatever! Just let people know. I'd appreciate it truly. Thank you. Have a woooonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Remember, you have another day...smile and take it in. :)

National Day of Prayer

May 3rd is the National Day of Prayer!

Everyday we should be examining our prayer life (not just on one day).  Prayer, in case you didn't know, is daily conversation with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.  Prayer is our connection to a relationship with Him.  Pray hardest when it is hardest to pray!

Had to sketch a lil somethin' somethin' to express my love for being able to communicate with God.  Talk to Him OUT LOUD...He listens.

Pray it away fam!
One love.

This is actually the last-step before the REAL finished artwork,

Inspired by all the nasty people in the world who don't wash their hands. Ew!

A Conversation

A little over a month ago I was asked to participate in an online interview series called Conversations with Girls.  And now...it's finally out!

CwG is a series highlighting "girls" who, because of their respective industries and fields, tend to be judged by people who judge books by their covers.  CwG serves as the middle-man to show you that these girls have substance and are more than what the world perceives, and most importantly, that they're just regular girls!

It was an honor and a humbling experience to be a part of something with such meaning.

Take a look at the interview!

It's brand new so make sure to "like" their Facebook page and to "follow" them on Twitter.

Etch-A-Sketch

Haven't posted anything in a good lil minute.
Right now I'm in Coffee Bean finishing up some design work.

I sketched this in my little black book as a way to relieve my artist's block.
It helped.

Joy to the World!

Hi friends and strangers!  I know it's been a lil minute since I've posted anything.
I hope you all have had a wonderful New Year!  Be blessed my people!  Be blessed.
Anywho, last month, the party girls and I (see last post) exchanged Secret Santa gifts with eachother.

We used Elfster (a website that sends us our Secret Santa recipient).  I was lucky to get my good friend Joy! Because Joy is such a unique woman, I wanted to give her a one-of-a-kind gift.  I usually create using Double Ds, aka: Dry & Digital Media buuuuuut because I wanted to change it up and give Joy something different, I used acrylic paint on canvas.

Korean girl, fluent in Spanish, Cali-bred with the coolest fashion and changing hairstyles who travels as much as Obama.  That's Joy.  I've never known Joy to be UNjoyful (yes...I said it) and because of that...I call this "Joy to the World."  Below is a series of photos of the process from the sketches to the canvas to the paint. Enjoy.
